While spending time with some brothers and sisters last night, my friend Tim brought up a devotional that talked about an "open door policy." This is the idea that we tend to assume only God opens door in front of us. In all honesty, the devil could open doors in front of us too. In the New Testament, there is often a theme of prayer, fasting, or testing the spirit in order to discern things like these.
God's timing is amazing because I believe my last post might come across as condoning the open door policy. In discerning where God wants us to go, it is very important to have an active and on-going communication with God. I am a strong believer this should physically manifest itself in our lives by waiting in silence, kneeling in prayer, fasting, searching the scriptures, and talking with other believers- among other things.
